The Merrueshi Maasai Tribe

The Maasai are a semi-nomadic tribe living a conservation lifestyle. The pictures above are from 10 days I spent at their conservation tourism camp in August 2010 and from Amboseli National Park. We were located near the Ugandan-Kenyan border and Mount Kilimanjaro.

The particular village I stayed with "is addressing the pressures of modernization through community development projects that aim to minimize permanent migration of young men and women from the community"  who leave to seek work in cities.
